Iraq and Afghanistan

I opposed the War in Iraq - as did the vast majority of my constituents. I received an unprecedented amount of post about this and am in no doubt of the views of the people of Vauxhall. I voted against the war - which has been a disaster - and I have continued to speak at Stop the War rallies.

We have been in Afghanistan for many years now, and the tragically frequent deaths of our soldiers suggests that we must keep reviewing that situation closely. I want to hear the purpose of our mission explained far more closely, as well as full consideration of when our troops can withdraw.

The Government must continue to strive for a peaceful resolution of the situation in the Middle East, ensuring security and justice for that troubled region, which is a prerequisite for a more stable world.
