I have been shocked and am extremely angry at some of what I have read about abuses of the expenses system which has deeply eroded public confidence. I believe it is of the highest importance that we have proper transparency of the money that we claim so that our constituents can know how we are spending their money.
Below are my full expenses since 2001/02, along with how I rank for each claim among MPs. As you can see, the vast majority of allowances go on staff, office, and stationery costs, and I can assure you that I do not claim for a second home!
