Since 1989 I have been privileged to represent our constituency. Although it is called "Vauxhall" it consists of much more than that and is made up of the areas of Waterloo, Kennington, Clapham North, Stockwell, and Brixton.

It is one of the most exciting, diverse, and vibrant areas of London. It contains nationally-famous landmarks such as the London Eye, the Oval cricket ground, the South Bank with its renowned arts facilities, the Imperial War Museum, and St. Thomas' Hospital.

We have many diverse communities notably Jamaican, Nigerian, Portuguese, Ghanaian, and Ecuadorian which makes ours one of the most multi-cultural and expressive places in London and the entire UK.

As a densely-populated inner-city seat with high levels of unemployment, crime, and drug-abuse sitting side-by-side with great wealth and prosperity there are serious challenges for Vauxhall. Over the past 18 years I have seen many improvements to our area. Community groups and residents groups have helped to turn many places around and I have been very happy to assist them wherever I can. It is a joy to work for and represent the entire constituency.
